At a recent cocktail party in Marin County, I found myself chatting with a re-entrepreneur (a Camillism). Having been significantly impacted by the recession – he was amid re-focusing, re-learning and re-engaging. Knowing that he didn’t want to re-experience the pains or the the financial hardships, he was actively re-inventing his way of doing business, his way of selecting a niche, his marriage, and himself.
It was awe-inspiring.
What parts of you are ready for a re? re-engage, re-inspire, re-focus?

"Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction." ~ Albert Einstein
When have you been courageous? How can you leverage this courage to practice the art and discipline to simplify, even more?

If you have transited on the London Tube, you can almost hear the beckoning to “Mind the Gap.” And yet, sometimes getting what we want the most often means standing in the gap. We have to let go of what we know, open to what may be, and stand in the gap of uncertainty. Embracing the unknown can be so scary and so freeing.
Where is your gap?

Gardners weed to make room for plants. How often do we weed our lives? How often do we get rid of and make room for what matters most? This could be tossing clothes you haven’t worn for years, simplifying your calendar to only do activities you really enjoy, letting go of “relationships” that drain your energy.
Take a moment to think of 10 things you can let go of?

Practicing simplification is both an art and discipline, especially amid complex lives. The art is seeing, engaging and creating opportunities to simplify. The discipline is pursuing clarity about what matters most and perspective to see new opportunities.
What is your art? How do you stay disciplined?
Think of something you want to do more of. How could you simplify…. What would you need discipline to practice and create?
AIMing to perform your art even more, Camille |
