In an off hand comment, a client once said….. “You can let people have fender benders, but have to watch for (and prevent) head on collisions.” I was intrigued. After more probing we agreed that conflict at work is healthy… he believes that minor run ins and small chafes that result in metaphorical workplace “fender benders” are healthy.
He then went on to caution "head on collisions." Conflicts that escalate, where individuals get overly invested are dangerous to the long term relationships…
What leads to fender benders? What leads to head on collisions? What are the warning signs? AIMing to avoid collisions,

What are you nuts, you want me to “create” conflict? Don’t you know – that I spend 70% of my day avoiding and navigating conflict?
Truth be told – conflict can be a core metric of organizational health. Where there is open, engaged productive conflict – there is more often than not, trust.

Too often we miss the essential outcome to a joke. The key to kidding – is that both parties need to be laughing at the end. The killer is that the laughter must be genuine, from the inside- out.
Take a moment – and think back to your last joke... did everyone laugh?
AIMing to laugh even more,
Camille

Zappos, the progressive online shoe company, is a leader in so many ways.
Dr. Vik, the in-house life coach is one of many examples. In his commitment to engaging team members and developing individuals’ self-awareness, Dr. Vik often encourages Zappotanians to “get a checkup – from the neck up”….
We often get our bodies, our cars, our teeth checked…. How about the head? When was your last checkup?

How often have you heard someone criticize the X , Y or Z in someone else, only wishing the complainer would look in the mirror. At a recent cocktail party in Marin County, I heard the ultimate show stopping “corking” phrase: “if you spot it, you’ve got it”.
What have you spotted?
AIMing to see even more inside,
