Don Miguel Ruiz popularized Toltec wisdom in his book, The Four Agreements. These are priceless – and worthy of a “little shout out…”
The first Agreement: Be Impeccable with Your word: “Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.” Sound easy? Try it for a day…

Leaders know the importance of flexibility. They know that different situations necessitate different perspectives. Like a helicopter – they have mastered the ability to see the entire situation from a high level. And, they have the ability to see the details, from a granular detail-specific perspective.
Leaders consistently build their flexi-visibility…

Leaders are well aware of the need for perspective. To see the situation as it is, not worse than it is. They address the situation at hand, rather than make it more complex.
Leaders master the ability to ‘chunk upward’ to see the key global message and to ‘chunk down’ to see the details in the moment that matter. Most of all, they are able to deliver what is called for, in that moment.
How do you see it as it is?

Too often in life – we sweat the little stuff. Whether it is stressing about “difficult conversations” or worrying about the details many people lose sight of the true outcome. Ultimately, it is the individual and the relationship which matters.
What are you done sweating?

A wise friend, Chuck Schultz (www.dragondynamics.net) once informed that people who have fewer rules, feel fewer upsets (or rules’ violations) will ultimately have much, much, more fun. Without rules, violations don't matter. I spent a week volunteering with Chuck, noticing all my rules, noticing all my upsets and noticing how much fun I was “missing”… interestingly – once I became aware of what my rules were, I was able to release them more quickly.
What were your rules?
